MEET SUSHMITA
Sushmita Suppiah had humble beginnings, growing up in a low income household whose financial struggle saw them relocating a few times throughout her childhood. They survived on hand-me-downs, food coupons, and of course, government aid. Despite her family’s financial difficulties, Sushmita was resilient and learnt to make the best of every opportunity she has. She mirrors both her parents hardworking ethic and vows to do everything in her power to help fellow Singaporeans who might be going through a tough time.

Since young, Sushmita discovered her passion in helping people and this has seen her actively take part in volunteer work. Being a firm believer in giving back to the nation, Sushmita dedicates her free time by being a part of the SINDA youth and educational programme, giving back to the organization that was crucial in providing assistance to her family while she was still in school. Sushmita hopes that she can be the helping hand that people need in their times of struggle.

In university, Sushmita was an excellent student and also the president of the debate club. Her determination and work ethic saw her graduating with a Master’s degree in Communication from the University at Buffalo. She was also the valedictorian for her cohort, having topped every module in the course of her study.
